Yoga Vidya Training

For national and overseas applicants

Bihar Yoga Traditional Trainings for Yoga Teachers
Date: 1st to 30th March, 2024

The focus of this training is to give a thorough understanding of the practices of yoga vidya, teaching methods and ways to apply yoga for different sections of society. The emphasis is on maintaining the purity and integrity of the Bihar Yoga tradition while imparting the ancient wisdom for the needs of the 21st century and the wellbeing of all.

Participants need to have a minimum of five years of yoga training in the Satyananda Yoga tradition. All applications must include a written referral from a recognized Satyananda Yoga teacher.


Pratyahara & Dharana Training
Date: 1st to 7th April, 2024

A special training on pratyahara and dharana is designed to develop the ability to internalize and withdraw one’s involvement with the continuous onslaught of input from the external environment. Only then, dharana or concentration can grow and be applied to all situations in life. In the context of the modern digital world and reduced attention span of people, this training is imparting the tools to again become aware and in-charge of one’s participation in life.


Hatha Yoga / Karma Yoga Training
Date: 22nd to 30th September, 2024

This training is now full.

Based on the Yoga Chakra, the Wheel of Yoga, hatha yoga and karma yoga are complementary to each other. Hatha yoga is the practice-oriented spoke of the wheel, then the new understanding and experience is expressed through karma yoga in thought, word and action throughout the day. The two branches of yoga combined focus on the purification of body, mind and self.


Raja Yoga / Bhakti Yoga Training
Date: 3rd to 12th October, 2024

This training is now full.

Raja yoga and bhakti yoga are the two branches which manage the head and heart. They are the two complementary spokes of the Yoga Chakra, the Wheel of Yoga. They deal with mind and emotion management respectively and offer yogic tools so that these strong forces can be channelled in direction which allows one’s full potential to unfold and blossom.


Progressive Yoga Vidya Training
Date: 17th to 30th October, 2024

This 2-week Progressive Yoga Vidya Training is conducted for those who have previously participated in Yoga Vidya Trainings. The training continues to deepen the understanding and experience of yoga vidya through practices of personal sadhana. For a sadhaka, the journey of exploration culminates in the experience and expression of balance and harmony, moment to moment.


Kriya Yoga / Jnana Yoga Training
Date: 3rd to 10th November, 2024

Kriya yoga, the practice-based spoke of the Yoga Chakra, the Wheel of Yoga, opens the doors of vijnanamaya kosha, the realm of one’s intuitive understanding. Jnana yoga is the process of self-observation, self-analysis and self-improvement. Through both branches, wisdom becomes part of daily life as one seeks and lives union and communion with all.

Kriya Yoga / Jnana Yoga Training is open to those who have participated in both Hatha Yoga / Karma Yoga and Raja Yoga / Bhakti Yoga trainings.


Hatha Yoga Yatra 5
Date: 24th to 30th September, 2024

Hatha Yoga Yatra 5 is the next step in understanding and experiencing hatha yoga. Aspirants who have participated in previous Hatha Yoga Yatra or in a Progressive Vidya Training are welcome to continue the journey of hatha yoga.


Raja Yoga Yatra 5
Date: 6th to 12th October, 2024

Raja Yoga Yatra 5 is based on the first four yatras which are the necessary foundation to further explore the mind. Raja Yoga Yatra 5 is open to aspirants who have participated in previous Raja Yoga Yatra or in a Progressive Vidya Training.


Munger Yoga Symposium
Date: 17th to 23rd November, 2024

Aspirants who have experience in Satyananda Yoga training and committed to deepening their own sadhana are invited to this Munger Yoga Symposium. This Symposium consolidates the new direction of yoga practice, sadhana and yogic lifestyle to allow the yogic culture to unfold in the life of the individual, the family and society.

Application procedures will be available soon.


As the accommodation available in the ashram is limited, in order to ensure all participants have a comfortable stay in the ashram, all applications have to go through a selection process.

Please note that the application for the following trainings closes by the 2nd week of February 2024:

  • Pratyahara & Dharana Training

All applications should reach the ashram by 10th February 2024. Late applications will not be considered.

That application for the following trainings closes by the end of May 2024:

  • Hatha Yoga / Karma Yoga Training
  • Raja Yoga / Bhakti Yoga Training
  • Progressive Yoga Vidya Training
  • Kriya Yoga / Jnana Yoga Training

All applications should reach the ashram by 31st May 2024. Late applications will not be considered.

An admission letter will be sent to those who are accepted for the training. Kindly do not make any travel arrangements until you have received an admission letter to the training.
