Basant Panchami

Basant Panchami

Date: January 28 – February 2, 2025

Blessed Self,
Hari Om.

Basant Panchami, the fifth day of spring and the foundation day of the Bihar School of Yoga, is being celebrated every year with an invocation to Ma Saraswati, the goddess of learning, the fine arts and wisdom. She represents vidya, knowledge in all its dimensions and areas of expression and experience.

Sri Swami Satyananda chose this auspicious day to embark on the mission of the Bihar School of Yoga, when he lit the akhanda Deepak, the eternal flame, as a symbol of the eternal flow of vidya that sustains each individual, the world and the universe.

Basant Panchami is a day when we renew our commitment to continuous learning and to the application of our understanding and knowledge for the wellbeing of all. Bihar School of Yoga has maintained its connection to Ma Saraswati since 1963. This year, Basant Panchami will be celebrated from 28th January to 2nd February 2025, and the Foundation Day of Bihar School of Yoga will be celebrated on 2nd February 205.

All sincere aspirants are invited to participate and contribute to the development and evolution of this vidya.
